Ontario Supporting Ontario-Based Artists and Arts Organizations

September 7, 2022

ETOBICOKE – The Ontario government is providing grants through the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) to support and foster the creation and production of art for the benefit of all Ontarians. OAC invests in the work of artists working in many disciplines, including craft, dance, literature, music, theatre, media arts and visual arts.

“On behalf of Minister Lumsden, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, I am pleased to announce that Arts Etobicoke, a local non-profit organization has received funding in the amount of $35,137 through the Ontario Arts Council’s Operating Grants” said Christine Hogarth, MPP for Etobicoke – Lakeshore. “Artists and arts organizations like Arts Etobicoke enrich the lives of people in the community. Thank you for making a positive difference and contribute to overall goal of building a stronger and prosperous Ontario. ”

“We are so pleased for the support of the Government of Ontario to help foster arts in all communities in Ontario,” said Wendy Rading, Executive Director of Arts Etobicoke. “Art has a vital role in creating a livable and enjoyable city for everyone.”

Currently, there are over 50 funding programs for Ontario-based artists and arts organizations. There are two types of grants available to the community:

  • Projects grants are one-time grants for specific projects, available to individual artists, ad hoc groups/collectives and organizations
  • Operating grants provide ongoing support for Ontario-based, not-for-profit arts organizations and for-profit book and magazine publishers
