Newsletter: June Recap

A message from Christine Hogarth:
Dear Friends,

This past June was a time of immense pride and celebration as I attended graduation ceremonies for our remarkable graduates. Your dedication and perseverance in your academic journey are truly commendable.

Congratulations Class of 2024!

June also marked Seniors Month, and I was thrilled to share that both Arts Etobicoke and Franklin Horner Community Centre have each received a well-deserved $25,000 grant from the Ontario Seniors Community Grant Program. These organizations play a vital role in helping seniors in our community stay fit, active, healthy, and socially connected.

I was excited to announce nearly $250,000 in funding on behalf of the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation that has helped the Furniture Bank significantly enhance their partnership with IKEA Canada and enabled them to purchase new trucks to continue their impactful work. It is a pleasure to support their vital work that helps people in need turn empty spaces into comfortable homes.

I had the pleasure of participating in some fantastic events that showcased the spirit and vibrancy of Etobicoke-Lakeshore, including Hope on the Queensway’s annual community BBQ, Trail Care Day, and graduation ceremony of the Youth In Policing Initiative (YIPI)

The Grilled Cheese Festival was a delightful experience, filled with friendly conversations with residents, local business owners, and of course, the opportunity to savour some truly delicious grilled cheese creations! A big shout out to the Lakeshore Village BIA for another successful event.

Looking ahead to the coming weeks, I’m excited to connect with all of you further through two new initiatives: Coffee with Christine and Christine’s Business Meet-and-Greet. These weekly events offer a chance for casual conversation and information exchange. Please see the event flyer here for details. I encourage you to join me and discuss any local issues or share your ideas.

Summer is time for my free Community BBQ. I would like to invite you to join me and members of the community on July 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at 195 Norseman St. Unit 21 to savour some grilled favourites, ice cream, music, and games. This BBQ is an opportunity for all of us to come together and celebrate as one big family. Please RSVP here.

Congratulations once again to all our graduates, and to everyone, enjoy what Etobicoke-Lakeshore has to offer.

I wish you all a safe, happy, and memorable summer.

Sincerely,

Christine
