Hello Friends,
It’s been a busy and rewarding month engaging with the residents of Etobicoke-Lakeshore as we gear up for the Legislative Assembly’s return on October 21.
One of the standout moments of September was the opening of the redeveloped Holy Angels Catholic School, with St. Leo soon to follow later this month. These two schools alone will provide 1,100 pupil places and 137 childcare spaces, thanks to a provincial investment of $52.3M. More than just funding, I’m proud of securing five school projects for our community, providing a total of 3,823 pupil places and 313 childcare spaces. This is a reflection of the growing needs of a thriving Etobicoke-Lakeshore.
Our community’s vibrant spirit was on full display at the annual Taste of the Kingsway, Etobicoke’s largest street festival, and at the Franklin Horner Community Centre’s Extravaganza, which brought families together to celebrate the heart of our community.
I also had the pleasure of attending the Roncesvalles Polish Festival, where we celebrated Ontario’s incredible Polish community. Whether through the passage of my legislation establishing Polish Heritage Month or by joining these dynamic festivities, I remain proud to support the Polish community and their lasting contributions to our province.
At the Toronto Ukrainian Festival in Bloor West Village, we came together to honour the culture, traditions, and resilience of the Ukrainian-Canadian community. As we celebrated this year, we also stood in solidarity with Ukraine as they bravely fight for peace and freedom. Slava Ukraini!
The Long Branch Tree Fest was another highlight, promoting environmental awareness and our collective goal of sustainability for Etobicoke-Lakeshore.
I was also thrilled to mark the 10-year partnership between Building Up and LiUNA Local 506, with our government investing $830,685 to support training men and women for in-demand skilled trades jobs.
Finally, it was inspiring to meet talented newcomers at WoodGreen Employment Services, where we discussed the vital programs that help new Canadians settle and thrive in our province. Thank you to WoodGreen, and to all newcomers, for bringing their skills and ambition to Ontario.
Together, let’s keep moving forward! Let’s Get It Done!
Sincerely,
Christine
