ETOBICOKE ― The Ontario government is providing two non-profit organizations in Etobicoke with $57,300 in funding this year through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream to make it easier for local residents to access the critical programming, activities and spaces that make a great place to live, work and play.
“Organizations like Arts Etobicoke and Dorothy Ley Hospice are important pillars of our community. This support from the Ontario government is critical to better serve the people of Etobicoke,” said Christine Hogarth, MPP, Etobicoke-Lakeshore. “These investments reflect our commitment to addressing diverse needs and building stronger, more resilient communities for all.”
OTF’s Capital grant stream helps organizations improve their infrastructure so they can continuing delivering programs and services that Ontarians need to thrive. Whether it’s purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations, retrofits or repairs, these grants support projects that are making a difference in Etobicoke-Lakeshore.
In Etobicoke-Lakeshore, organizations receiving funding include:
- Dorothy Ley Hospice – $46,200
- Arts Etobicoke – $11,100
“Across Ontario, non-profit organizations are delivering critical programming that is helping people train for new careers, stay active, learn new things and connect with their community,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why capital grant support is so important. This funding will help ensure facilities and spaces are accessible, modern and central to communities across our province.”
These Capital grants are part of the more than $28 million supporting 291 local programs and services that help deliver critical community programming across province.
“It’s possible to live well through serious illness, end of life and loss, and details like access to a calming outdoor space can make a big difference,” said Dipti Purbhoo, Dorothy Ley Hospice Executive Director. “We’re grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the generous grant. It will allow us to create a larger and more serene outside space that will be enjoyed by the individuals and families we support at the hospice residence and those who are part of our community programs and events.
We always appreciate Christine Hogarth’s interest in our work, and are grateful for her strong advocacy for Hospices.”
“We are so pleased to be the recipient of an OTF Capital Grant. This grant is important because it acknowledges that Arts Etobicoke’s impactful programs come together with a lot of hard work from a lot of passionate and talented people. When the administrative and operations needs of an organization are recognized it becomes much easier to serve our community and develop and deliver new and exciting programs,” said Wendy Rading, Executive Director, Arts Etobicoke.
