ETOBICOKE – Etobicoke-Lakeshore MPP Christine Hogarth today congratulated the Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment for winning a $162,700 Resilient Communities Grant award from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

The Centre, established in 2014 by the trail-blazing former MP, is a charitable organization committed to building the self-esteem and self-worth of girls and young women by positively influencing their outlook on life, broadening their horizons and helping them empower their lives.

“We are so fortunate to have The Jean Augustine Centre, which is an invaluable resource for young girls located in our community,” Hogarth said. “The Young Women’s Empowerment program contributes every day to the goal of opening up opportunities for young women to achieve their true potential.

“This grant will go a long way to support their great work including a variety of programs aimed at giving girls and young women the skills and confidence they need to succeed.”

Hogarth added that the Centre offers after-school programming, workshops, camps and events for girls and young women from ages 7 to 17 in South Etobicoke and the GTA.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and is one of Canada’s leading granting foundations, now celebrating 40 years of grant-giving in Ontario and making a lasting impact in our communities.

Last year, the OTF invested over $110 million into 1,022 community projects and partnerships. Please visit otf.ca to learn more.
