Perfect for celebrating Seniors Month in Ontario!

NEWS – June 29, 2023

ETOBICOKE – Etobicoke-Lakeshore MPP Christine Hogarth was delighted to share news today of significant new grant funding for two seniors’ community centres in the riding, together with a series of additional Ontario grants, all designed to support our seniors and people who need our help.

The Franklin Horner Community Centre has received nearly $52,000, and the Islington Seniors’ Centre garnered additional funding to support programs aimed at keeping seniors active and connected to their communities. The total, of some $113,000, is provided through the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility.

“We owe everything to our seniors,” Hogarth said. “They helped build our province, and deserve an active, healthy and engaged life after all their work for us.”

Minister for Seniors and Accessibility Raymond Cho said Hogarth is making sure our seniors are receiving the services they need in her communities: “She is seeing to it that our seniors are staying fit, active, healthy and socially connected.”

In addition, the following area organizations received funding under related programs:

  • $25,000 to the Seniors Arts Program at Arts Etobicoke
  • $25,000 to Nos Ainés en sécurité at GRAMEN
  • $25,000 to Caring for Our Isolated Seniors at Haven on the Queensway
  • $24,729 to MABELLElders for MABELLEarts
  • $256,177 to Workforce Development for PTP Adult Learning and Employment Programs from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development

“It’s thanks in part to programs like these that Etobicoke-Lakeshore is fast becoming one of the best places in Canada to live, work, start a business and raise a family in Canada,” Hogarth concluded.
